An official reception was held on September 21st in the main hall of the Royal Academy Palace of Belgium in Brussels, organized by the Permanent Mission of Armenia to EU and the Embassy of Armenia to Belgium jointly with the Mission of Armenia to NATO, to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia.

High ranking members of the European Parliament, European Commission, the Belgian Parliament and government, officials of the European External Action Service, the Belgian Foreign Ministry and NATO, ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic corps, many prominent members of the Belgian society, heads and members of Armenian church and community organizations attended the reception.

In his welcoming speech Tatoul Markarian, the Head of the Permanent Mission of Armenia to EU, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, underlined that during the 26 years of independence Armenia has established itself as an independent and democratic country and secured stable environment for peaceful life and progress.

The Ambassador touched upon the constitutional changes underway in Armenia, the economic, scientific, educational and cultural programs of development, spoke about the increasing cooperation with the EU and dynamic cooperation between Armenia and Belgium.
